Patrons continue to eat their lunches at Whispering Pines Cafe on U.S. 63 in Houston despite heavy damage to the front of the restaurant caused when a van driven by a man from Arkansas slammed into it late Wednesday morning.

The Whispering Pines Café on U.S. 63 in Houston sustained heavy damage late Wednesday morning when a van driven by a man from Arkansas crashed into the front of the restaurant.

According to the Houston Police Department, the man reportedly tried to apply the brakes to the vehicle when pulling into a parking space. His foot slipped off the brake pedal and inadvertently hit the accelerator.

Two large windows in the front of the business were destroyed, and police said the wall was pushed back two to three feet at the point of impact. The initial estimated damage to the restaurant is $20,000-25,000.

There were no injuries, according to Houston police. The business was expected to be temporarily closed to board it windows.
