Donald “Ray” Branson, 79, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, in West Plains.
He was born July 5, 1931, in Rual Dolores, Colo., son of Charles Oscar and Lenora Ethel Clayton Branson. He and Georgia Bryan were married June 22, 1953.
He was a member of the Church of Christ of Lebanon, Colo. He served in the Navy from March 1951 to 1955. He worked as a self-employed bricklayer for about 40 years.
He enjoyed painting pictures for family and friends, spending time in his garden, fishing with his wife on Norfork Lake and spending time with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Robert, Vernon, Irvin and Harald; and two sisters, Fern and Ruth.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia of the home; two children, David Branson of Houston and Helen Brawley of Summersville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Reed Branson of Dolores, Colo.; and two sisters, Eva Lisenburry of Chula Vista, Calif., and Margaret Fiskdal of Cameron Park, Calif.
Graveside services were Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Ozark Cemetery with the Rev. Kendall Ford officiating. Services were under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home.
