A Summersville couple lost their home Thursday.

The family of Mark and Angela Jones of Summersville lost all of their possessions when their house burned to the ground last Thursday.

The couple reportedly woke up in the middle of the night to the smell of smoke and quickly realized their house was on fire. They managed to get their kids and animals safely outside, but could only stand and watch as all of their possessions went up in flames – including the ones in a “fireproof” safe.

A benefit fund for the family’s immediate and future needs has been set up at Landmark Bank. Donations are accepted at any location or can be sent to Landmark Bank, P.O. Box 16, Mountain View, Mo., 65548 (account number 5111010053).

A benefit event and auction is set for 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at the Summersville Community Center. The event will feature music from 5-7 p.m. with the auction following.

The Jones’ are currently staying with friends.
