Florence Marie Morton, 93, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, at Solaria Hospice Care Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
She was born Feb. 8, 1917, in Texas County, daughter of John Addison and Mary Adeline Bressie Morton.
She was a lifelong Houston resident until recently living with her children. She was saved and accepted Jesus Christ as a young woman. She was a longtime member of Houston Assembly of God Church. She was an avid reader of the Bible and taught Sunday school classes to children.
She was a retired civil service employee and worked on the Fort Leonard Wood base. She worked many years for medical clinics in Houston for doctors Dilman, Kramer, Burns and Wall.
She enjoyed working outside, gardening, canning, ice skating with Scott Hamilton and waching TV, especially the Dallas Cowboys.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Willard, Bill, Johnny and an infant; and three sisters, Mary McKinney, Opal Cornwell and Jewell Dzurick.
Survivors include a daughter, Margie Lee Wright of Licking; a son, Richard A. Morton of Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; two step-grandchildren; eight great step-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at Fox Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Anzel Shoults officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
