Thanks to donations made through the annual Share Your Christmas program, many local kids had a better Christmas than they otherwise might have.

The charitable program is designed to help needy children in Texas County each year at Christmas. As it once again reaches its conclusion, coordinator Pat Miller reports that more than 300 children and more than 100 families were recipients of donated items.

Miller said that all of the children should receive their “help” by Friday evening, thanks to a great response to the “Angel Tree” set up in the Houston Walmart and many other generous donations from around the community.

The program is headquartered in the Houston Lions Club den on U.S. 63. Children enrolled are assigned case numbers and people wishing to help can “adopt” a specific case or make general donations.

Organizations, businesses or groups that have recently donated include: USDA Service Center Employees, Houston Lions Club, Eunice Baptist Church, Church of God of Prophecy, Ozark Baptist Church, Progressive Ozark Bank employees, Fraternal Order of the Eagles No. 3911, Womack Chiropractic, Blue Heaven Club, Houston Walmart, Zumba Fitness Class, Sorosis Club, Houston KFC-Taco Bell, MoDOT employees of Houston Summersville and Success areas, Girl Scouts and “Owls.”
