Marguerite Pearl Broughton, 94, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at Licking Park Manor.
She was born Sept. 30, 1916, in Steelville, daughter of Oren P. and Edith M. Coleman Moutray. She and Elby Wiley Broughton were married Oct. 17, 1936.
She trusted Jesus as her savior at the age of 11 and was baptized. She was a Baptist Christian the remainder of her life. She was a member of Boone Creek Baptist Church for 15 years and had previously been a member of First Baptist Church of Licking for 46 years.
She and her husband operated a dairy farm south of Licking for 16 years. During that time, she began working at Rawlings Sporting Goods Factory and continued there for 23 years. She served as president of Union Local 721. After moving to Licking in 1963, she and her husband operated a Laundromat and later a mobile home park.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elby; a son, Jerry; a grandson; a great-grandson; and four brothers, Donald, Anson, Wendell and Otho.
Survivors include three children, Carolyn Barnes, Kelly Broughton and Richard Broughton; two sisters, Vida Foreman and Vera Lake; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and many friends and extended family members.
Services were Thursday, Dec. 9, at First Baptist Church of Licking with Pastors Robert Gifford and Rob Lilly officiating. Burial was in Boone Creek Cemetery.
