Makayla Cook scored 11 points to lead the Houston seventh grade girls’ basketball team past Cabool 27-18 Thursday.

Autumn Walker scored eight points for the Lady Tigers, who built on a two-point halftime advantage by outscoring Cabool 13-4 in the third quarter.

“We didn’t handle their halfcourt trap very well and when we did, we missed our layups,” Houston coach John Jordan said. “But these are young kids and will get better.”

EIGHTH GRADE: Kylee Elmore had a season-high 18 points to lead the Houston eighth grade girls past Cabool 39-33 Thursday.

Karissa Zalucky scored nine points and Nora Dixon added eight. The Lady Tigers raced ahead 17-4 in the first quarter and led by 17 at the half.

“We played extremely well in the first half,” Jordan said. “I think we gained some confidence from our last game and that we can beat other teams.”
