A former Texas County resident who led lawmen on a lengthy manhunt in 2007 after his wife’s death was sentenced to 15 years in prison Thursday.
Neldon Neal’s sentence, handed down in Phelps County, is in addition to a 17-year term he is already serving for possessing a firearm as a felon.
Neal, 64, was convicted of manslaughter in September in Morgan County of the 2007 death of his wife, Judy Lewis.
Neal led area lawmen on a 62-day manhunt after the killing at the couple’s Roby trailer.
An appeals court earlier threw out Neal’s second-degree murder conviction on a technicality.
