Seymour outscored the Houston Tigers 18-2 in the opening quarter and cruised to a 60-27 victory Monday in the opening round of the Mansfield Tournament.

The Tigers (0-2), seeded last in the eight-team field, play again Friday in the consolation bracket.

Rodney Preheim scored 11 points as the lone Houston player in double figures. The Tigers managed six field goals.

Seymour, a defending district champion, hit eight 3-pointers. J.J. Larsen and Tyler Lee hit three triples apiece.

Curry Van Horn hit a pair of 3-pointers en route to six points for the Tigers. Weston Walker scored all five of his points at the foul line.
