Terry Brent Key, 70, of Plato, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010.
He was born July 30, 1940, son of Paul and Mary Marie Smallen Key.
He pastored Palace Union Church of Evening Shade for more than 20 years. He preached his last sermon there Dec. 5, 2010. He was an evangelist/pastor for 52 years. He attended Atlanta Christian College and conducted more than 500 revival meetings nationwide. He was a pianist and singer and performed in many gospel music concerts. He was a long-time member of Covenant Quartet.
He spent more than three years with mission services, traveling across the country with his family as he raised money for foreign missions. He was involved with the early mission of Revival Fires Ministries, serving with Dr. Cecil Todd and Lowell Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Kenneth Paul Key.
Survivors include four children, Tracy Key of Hattiesburg, Miss., Brian Key of Kansas City, Julie Whaley of Lebanon and Ashley Key of New York, N.Y.; a sister, Sue Westover of Canton, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services were Monday, Dec. 27, at Palace Union Church with Dr. Cecil Todd officiating. Burial was in Palace Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
