The Texas County Sheriff’s Department is investigating missing copper wire from a Licking business.
An officer reported that on Jan. 18 he had investigated the reported theft of the metal from a business property on Highway C.
A representative told the officer that he had spoken to a woman at a trailer next to the property, and she said she knew nothing of the wire.
The officer tried to make contact with her and observed in plain view a large amount of wire matching the description of what was missing.
The woman came out of the trailer, and she was placed under arrest.
A search warrant was obtained, and the officer found bolt cutters, pliers and other equipment used for the wire.
There are two male suspects in the case, which is still under investigation.
