Brandon Beck, left, and Kirk Elmquist are featured guests at this year's chamber banquet in Houston.

A KY3 meteorologist and a motivational speaker will be the featured guests at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual banquet.

Sharon Horbyk, the chamber’s executive director, announced last week that Brandon Beck of KY3 will emcee the Jan. 29 event at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds. Kirk Elmquist will present “NO FEAR… Charging forward to embrace change that will improve my family, my business and our community!” as the featured speaker.

Tickets for the banquet are $20 apiece. Social hour is 6-6:30 p.m., followed by a catered meal at 6:30. A fundraising silent auction that includes St. Louis Cardinals and University of Missouri basketball tickets will be held throughout the evening.

Beck joined KY3 as a weekend weathercaster in 1996. He holds a certificate of broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University and is a member of the American Meteorological Society. He was awarded “best weathercast” by the Missouri Broadcasters Association in 1998.

Elmquist, who is married to Houston native Kretia Holder Elmquist, has given thousands of presentations in 46 states and three foreign countries. He was formerly the associate executive director of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, general manager of Chardonnay Restaurant and director of marketing at Millwood Golf and Racquet Club. From 2004-’09, Elmquist was vice president of sales and marketing for the Springfield Cardinals.

In 2006, Elmquist was honored by the Missouri Legislature for service to Missouri. In the same ceremony, he was given a key to the City of Springfield by then Mayor Pro-tem Ralph Manley. He received a “service to mankind” award in 2008 from Sertoma International.
