A fundraiser for radio station KZGM, 88.1 FM, is scheduled to be held on Sunday, Feb. 13, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Yellow House Community Arts Center at 209 Trish Knight Blvd. in West Plains.

For a $10 donation at the door, the event will include live music, a chili supper, a door prize and a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit the non-commercial community radio station located in Cabool that can be heard in nine south-central Missouri counties.

“We are all volunteers at KZ88,” said Kazie Perkins of Willow Springs, one of the station’s directors. “Our goal is to inform, educate and entertain and we depend on listener support to stay on the air. We have been inspired by the enthusiasm of our volunteers coming together putting on this benefit for the station.”

The event’s musical lineup includes the bluegrass band Swift Kick, the saxophone and guitar jazz ensemble of Tom Rowley and Renee Wood, and the traditional music of The Colbert Brothers, all of the Willow Springs area. Also scheduled to perform are West Plains artists Marideth Sisco and Friends (traditional) and John Lumsden (jazz).

Attendees will also have the opportunity to take part in the world premier screening of a short video, “Aliens Take Over – The Real Truth Behind KZ88.”

“Join your friends at the KZ88 radio chili party and support the community radio station that some are calling ‘a diamond in the rough – the best homegrown radio station in the country,'” said volunteer Michael McClure of Willow Springs.
