A Rolla man faces a charge following a recent Houston accident that left several injured.

The Houston Police Department issued a citation for following too closely to Kristopher P. Nash, 33, of 11251 Pine Dale Drive in Rolla, for his role in a three-car accident that resulted in the injuries Jan. 5 on U.S. 63.

After investigation of the incident, police determined that Nash was at fault for not slowing down in his Toyota Rav 4 and rear-ending a Missouri Department of Transportation van pulling an equipment trailer that was in the northbound lane waiting to turn left into the MoDOT facility.

The driver of the van and several Missouri Department of Corrections inmates who were passengers were injured. Also hurt was the driver of a truck traveling southbound in the same location, whose vehicle was hit by Nash’s as it spun clockwise from the impact. After being side-swiped by Nash’s vehicle, the truck went off the roadway and struck two trees head-on.

Nash told authorities that he had slowed down and hit the trailer after being rear-ended by another vehicle. The police investigation concluded that there was no evidence of the involvement of a third northbound vehicle.
