James “Jim” Edward Parsons, 81, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at National Health Care in West Plains.
He was born Nov. 5, 1929, in Washington County, son of Tracy and Wyoma Skaggs Parsons. He and Ruth McKee were married Nov. 7, 2001.
He enjoyed fishing, cookouts, tinkering with broken things, computers and taking long walks. He attended First Church of God in Houston.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nell; his parents; a stepmother, Grace; two brothers, George and Wilbur; a sister, Louise, a stepson, Ronnie Thomas; and two nieces.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of the home; a brother, Marvin Parsons; a stepson, Randy Thomas; four stepdaughters; Dorothy Barnett and Donna Hoggatt of Houston, Deanna Turner of Bland and Debra Godde of Edgar Springs; 15 step-grandchildren; 19 step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were Friday, Feb. 4, at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Hendrix Jr. officiating. Burial was in Long Hollow Cemetery.
