Robert B. Mauland, 84, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at Willow Care Nursing Home.

He was born Feb. 8, 1927, in Chicago, Ill., son of Thorsinn and Olga Fries Mauland.

He grew up in Chicago and later served in the National Guard. He was an electrician and firefighter. He began a fire department in Armania, Wisc., and served more than 10 years as fire chief.

He loved German shepherds and helping others.

He was saved in 2009.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Nora Dankowski.

Survivors include a friend and companion, Bernice Rattunde of Houston.

Memorial services are 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at First Christian Church in Houston with Pastor Matthew Anderson officiating. Cremation was under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
