Three area fire departments responded Sunday morning to a structure fire on Highway 137.
Raymondville assistant fire chief Mike Drozdo said the second story and attic were “fully involved” when firefighters arrived. He said crews, who used 100 gallons of water, saved most of the homeowners’ belongings.
Firefighters from the City of Houston and Licking also responded.
On Saturday, Raymondville firefighters responded to three field fires in less than two hours.
At 1 p.m., crews responded to a two-acre fire on Highway V. The second call was at 2:30 p.m. on Ship Drive. Licking responded with mutual aid.
About 15 minutes later, Raymondville sent a three-man crew to a fire on McCoglin Road.
“Please do not burn on windy days,” Drozdo said. “Fire can get away from you fast and with the dry ground conditions can get out of control quickly.”
