A Plato man escaped injury in a crash late Monday night in Franklin County.

A Plato man escaped injured Monday night in an Interstate 44 crash in Franklin County just east of Stanton, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Officers said a 2006 Cobalt operated by a Texas woman lost control on the snow-covered roadway and slowed to a near stop. A 2009 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Orlando Soto, 47, of Plato, was directly behind the car and struck it in the rear. Soto’s truck later traveled off the roadway and struck a cable barrier.

The Texas woman and a 12-year-old passenger were taken to Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan with minor injuries. Their car was totaled.
