A woman was cited after her dog tore trash in a neighborhood, police said.

Nadatha S. Walker, 20, of 250 Forest Dr. in Houston, was issued a citation March 1 by the Houston Police Department for allowing a dog to run at large.

A neighbor came to the police station at about 2:45 p.m. that day to report that the dog had been loose and tearing up her trash on multiple occasions.

An investigating officer went to Walker’s home and observed the tan pit bull running loose.

The officer made several attempts to contact Walker and finally did at about 10 p.m.

After issuing the citation, the officer explained the city’s leash law to her and advised her to contain the dog. Walker immediately took it inside.
