Charles Phillip Palmer, 78, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at St. John’s Hospital.

He was born Dec. 3, 1932, in Valley Park, son of Clarence William and Grace Ellen Jones Palmer. He married Yvette Hazlett in 1973 in Lebanon.

He joined the Army on Feb. 25, 1953, and spent 13 years serving the country. He attained the rank of captain and was honorably discharged Aug. 10, 1966.

He and his wife moved to Houston in 1997 and resided in Hamrick Terrace. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading western books and watching westerns on TV. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his, wife Yvette “Eve” Carpentier Palmer.

Survivors include 10 children, Chuck, Kelly, Susan, Michael, Paulette, David, Brian, Diana, Daniel and Thomas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister Carolyn Tanner; and several nieces and nephews.

A private family burial with full military honors was Tuesday, April 5, in Pine Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
