Pearl (Bacon) Cochran, 74, daughter of James and Berdetta (Chaney) Bacon, was born Dec. 22, 1936, in Sikeston, Mo. She passed away March 29, 2011, at St. John’s Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Mo.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Luther; one daughter, Dierdre Wray; her parents; four sisters; and three brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Shelli Laurie of Ashland, Mo.; three sons, Jeff of Bremerton, Wash., Steve of Pacific, Mo., and Scott of Springfield, Mo.; her sisters, Mary Kassell of Denver, Colo., and Ruth Bacon of Raymondville, Mo.; a brother, Dan of Poplar Bluff;10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pearl grew up in the Sikeston area and graduated from Sikeston High School in 1954.
She married Luther Cochran in 1955 in Denver, Colo., and to this union three sons and two daughters were born. They moved to Raymondville, Mo., in 1974.
Pearl worked as a probate clerk at the Texas County Courthouse until retirement. Prior to that, she worked in real estate. But she spent the first 17 years of her marriage as a full-time wife and mother and was greatly involved in PTA and room mother activities.
Pearl had been a member of the Blue Heaven Club of Raymondville and was heavily involved in area Democrat committees and activities. She bowled in a league weekly for many years. Her hobbies included crocheting, bird watching from her kitchen window and bunko.
Services were 10 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Evans Funeral Home with Wesley Wallace officiating. Pallbearers were Jordan Cochran, Zach Cochran, Nick Cochran, Joe Cochran, Cody Laurie and Mark Whitaker. Burial followed at Allen Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
