Houston’s sales tax revenue shot up about 19 percent during the monthly reporting period from the same time a year ago, the Missouri Department of Revenue reports.
The tally from a one-cent sales tax collected by merchants was $58,405, which was up $9,522 from the same period a year ago. For the quarter, $163,270 has been collected. That’s up $4,408 from last year.
Quarter-cent sales taxes earmarked for utility work and road and sidewalk improvements also increased by similar amounts.
