Dustin Blackburn completed his career with the MSU-WP golf team with a second-place finish.

Houston High School graduate Dustin Blackburn concluded his junior college golf career with his best finish.

Blackburn, a member of the Missouri State University-West Plains golf team, shot a 76 on May 1 in the Region 16 championship at Ozark Ridge Golf Course in Poplar Bluff. He tied for second — his best-ever finish.

As a team, the Grizzlies shot a season-best 313. It was three shots behind Mineral Area, which won the region title with a 310.

A two-year member of the golf team, Blackburn earlier this season made a double-eagle in a home match against Mineral Area. He holed his second shot from 210 yards away on a par 5.

Blackburn is the son of Denny and Diana Blackburn of Houston.

“We had a wonderful bunch of young men the past two years,” Grizzlies coach Tom Roe said of Blackburn and his teammates. “They represented the college and the community very well.”
