Chester Lee Grady, 83, died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Licking Park Manor after a long illness.

He was born Aug. 28, 1927, in Hazelton, son of Lee Grady and Effie Blankenship Grady. He and Violet Jane Sullins were married Dec. 26, 1953, in Licking.

He was a veteran of the Korean Ware and a retired truck driver. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening

In the years before his illness, he frequently spent summers with his sons and grandchildren camping at Floyd’s Bottom on the banks of the Big Piney River.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clarence Grady; and a daughter, Deborah Grady Goodman.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Violet; James “J.C.” of Lebanon, John Grady of Willard and Becky Holland of Rolla; a brother, Leon Grady of Licking; 10 grandchildren; 14 Melissa, John, Les, Jamie, Debbie, Mikalah, Chris, Joseph, Shirley and Jeff; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were Monday, May 23, in Craddock Cemetery with Elder Noel Mooney officiating. Services were under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
