In a report from the Texas County Sheriff’s Department, an officer stated that on May 23, a man from a Dogwood Road residence in Mountain Grove had called to report that a neighbor of had shot and killed his dog.
The neighbor told an investigating officer that he had in fact shot the dog – a heeler – because it was being aggressive toward he and his children.
The neighbor stated that after the incident, he had told the dog’s owner what had happened and that they shook hands and all was OK. He said that the owner later returned with his father, who demanded that the neighbor pay for the dog.
The neighbor stated that when he refused to pay, the father said “keep an eye on your dog.”
