A squirrel is blamed for a power outage that affected part of Houston last week.

Members of the Houston City Council heard last night that a power outage on Friday was caused by a squirrel.

The western portion of the community lost service, reported City Administrator Larry Sutton.

In other matters, members:

-Heard from Ron Reed, economic development director, about progress made on placing a junior college issue on the ballot. City leaders met with Dr. Hal Higdon, president of Ozark Technical College, on Wednesday.

-Adjourned into a closed session. No votes were taken.
