Texas County Relay for Life kicks off activities June 10 at Tiger Stadium for its annual fundraiser to fight cancer.
The theme is “Survivor: Texas County,” said Jason Pounds, activities chair. The fun starts at 7 p.m. and runs through 7 a.m. Saturday.
Several musical acts are planned: “The Fallen,” “Miles From Nowhere” and the Houston High School jazz band. A live auction also is planned.
Here is a tentative schedule of activities:
7 p.m. – Opening ceremonies.
7:30 p.m. – “The Fallen,” first set.
8:15 p.m. – Live auction.
8:45 p.m – “The Fallen,” second set.
9:30 p.m. – Luminaria ceremony (with performance of HHS Jazz Band).
10 p.m. – HHS Jazz Band.
11 p.m. – “Miles from Nowhere.”
Midnight – “Fight Back” ceremony.
12 – 6 a.m. – Overnight activities.
5:50 a.m. – Sunrise ceremony.
6:30 a.m. – Closing ceremonies.
Overnight activities include a “challenge” for teams, as well as a round of trivia every hour, Pounds said. At about 6 a.m. there will be finale challenge for a prize. It will consist of the winners of the previous team challenges, as well as one or two people who found the “Hidden Immunity Idols.” All teams will have prizes and goodies at their campsites, too.
Miller’s Grill also is expected to serve dinner on the grounds.
