The city council will change its meeting start time following action on Monday.

The Houston City Council will continue work to craft an ordinance that regulates unsightly grass, weeds and other eyesores.

The council instructed city attorney Brad Eidson to draft a proposed ordinance that will be reviewed by the council before its passage. The city continues to monitor properties under its current ordinance and has notified some property owners that they are in violation. In some cases, tall grass has been mowed and the property owner sent a bill.

In other matters, members:

-Voted to change the time of the council’s meetings to 7 p.m. on the first and third Monday of each month.

-Heard an update that work continues to gain sewer easements for the east side of North U.S. 63 for line improvements.

-Received an update on work to upgrade sewer lift stations. The replacement of one on the west side of Houston and a repair of another on Indian Creek Trails are expected to be completed by July 1.
