An investigation found a ransacked house before authorities returned to find a man assaulted, the Texas County Sheriff's Department reported.

Just after midnight Saturday, a Texas County deputy was dispatched to assist an ambulance at a Whispering Pines Road residence in Licking. A 21-year-old man there had dislocated his shoulder and told the officer that he had been drinking and gotten mad at his dogs.

The officer observed that the house appeared ransacked, with dishes and other items thrown around and the refrigerator tipped over.

The man refused medical treatment, and the officer and ambulance left. But the officer was soon advised to return, because the man’s 48-year-old father had reported being assaulted by his son.

The father reportedly decided not to press charges, but the son was taken to the Texas County Jail for a six-hour safekeeping period.
