Separate accidents involving a horse-drawn wagon injured two Monday night at Licking, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
Authorities said the first occurred at about 9:10 a.m. three miles west of Licking on Highway 32 when an unknown driver struck the rear of a westbound buggy driven by Ely E. Schwartz, 18, of Seymour. Schwartz, who had minor injuries, was thrown from the vehicle. The unknown driver transported Schwartz to his residence and left without identifying himself.
The wagon continued westbound pulled by the horse, causing a second accident 10 minutes later about a mile west from the previous mishap
Officers said Krissy Dent, 41, of St. Charles, swerved to miss it and traveled off the roadway, struck a private driveway and overturned. She was transported with moderate injuries to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston. Dent’s vehicle was totaled. She was not wearing a seat belt.
When Sgt. Jeff Kinder and Tpr. Logan Elliott filed their reports last night the horse and wagon had not been found.
