A mobile home on Highway DD east of Houston was consumed by fire shortly before noon Thursday.
Two trucks and crews from the Houston Rural Fire Department responded to the fire, but the structure was fully involved when they arrived. Firefighters sprayed water on adjacent trees and shrubs to prevent fire from spreading.
Owner Danny Tubbs and his wife were not home when the blaze began. There was no indication of how the fire started.
A family dog tied to a tree next to the home was close enough to feel the intense heat, but was not harmed.
