Military veteran

Louie D. Adams, 70, died Friday, June 17, 2011, at his home in Cabool.

He was born March 9,1941, in Cabool, son of Homer and Myrtle Hale Adams. He and Donna Smotherman were married in 1960. He and Lu Thomas Cameron were married in 1983.

He attended school 12 years at Cabool and graduated in 1959. He joined the Navy after high school and was stationed at North Island Naval Air Station in San Diego, Calif. After spending four years in the military, he returned to Cabool.

He came to know the Lord and was baptized as an adult. He ran Adams Auto Salvage and wrecker service for many years and later owned and operated Adams Auto Sales.

“Lu’s Longhorns” was one of his retirement hobbies, buying and selling longhorns with his dog, Susie. He enjoyed playing all kinds of cards and hosted many games. He loved spending time with his wife, friends, family, children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lloyd; a sister, Blanche White; and a son, Travis Cameron.

Survivors include his wife, Lu; a sister, Beulah Adams of Cabool; three children, Michaelle Lee of Raymondville, Dean Adams of St. Louis and Toby “D” Martin of Willow Springs; and seven grandchildren.

Services were Monday, June 20, at Mt. Pisgah Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. David Carroll officiating. Burial with full military honors was in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home.
