David Hoyt Woosley, 63, was born in Lexington, Ky., on Aug. 18, 1947, to Myrtle “Nadine” Curtner Woosley and Waite “Hoyt” Woosley. He died of injuries sustained in a motorcycle-car accident in Louisville, Ky., on July 16, 2011.
David was a graduate of Seneca High School in Louisville, Ky., and received his teaching degree from the University of Kentucky. He taught school in Lexington, Ky., and in the Houston Public School in Houston, Mo., retiring in 2007 with a total of 25 years of dedication to his students and community.
David was an active member of “Heart of Fire” church in Louisville, Ky., cared for his mother of the home, and loved life. He cherished time with his children, grandchildren and friends, solving problems and aiding in improving the lives of those around him. He was a fine musician and creative individual, taking pleasure in developing the talents of his children, friends and students.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hoyt; and two infant sons, Galien Elias and Elijah Don.
He leaves behind his mother, Nadine; four sons, Jeffrey Scott and wife, Shastine, Gregory Allen and wife, Adrienne, Oliver Lawton and Ahren RaeLaverne; one daughter, Olivia Marie; and three grandchildren, Roman Harrison, Emerson Violet and Cason Elijah.
He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
A memorial service was Friday, July 22, in Louisville, Ky., and a service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at First Baptist Church in Houston, Mo. Cards, photos or a story will be welcome additions to our celebration of David’s life.
