Doris Irene Flowers, 85, daughter of Robert and Ocie (Williams) Gaddis, was born Feb. 11, 1926, in Graff, Mo. She passed away July 4, 2011, at her home in Houston, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen; one brother, Efra; and one son, Robbie Flowers.
She is survived by one son, Rick Flowers and his wife, Connie, of Houston, Mo.; four grandchildren, Amy, Ryan, Brad and Amber; five great-grandchildren: Drew, Hunter, Olivia, Charley and Jake; one brother, Maxie Gaddis and wife, Wanda, of Dawson, Mo.; two sisters, Donra Douglas and husband, Dickie, of Houston, Mo., and Dixie Stallcup and husband, Ronald, of Vandalia, Mo.
Doris grew up in the Graff/Dawson area. She graduated from Houston High School in 1945. She married Allen Flowers on April 5, 1947.
She was a member of the Cabool Church of Christ for more than 50 years.
Doris was a farm girl through and through! She loved the farm. She enjoyed baking, cooking and gardening and especially taking care of her cows. Her daily routine always included feeding and checking on them.
The Flowers family held a very special place in her life. She looked forward to the reunions, seeing and visiting with all of them. One special highlight of her life was spending time with her grandchildren.
Doris was a loving mother and grandmother. She had a wonderful sweet spirit and had a smile for everyone she met. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at Evans Funeral Home. Services are 10 a.m. Friday, July 8, at Evans Funeral Home with burial in Union Cemetery.
