Lee Roy Kelley, 79, died Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Texas County Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

He was born Aug. 1, 1931, in Lubbock, Texas, son of Samuel E. and Neva L. Souder Kelley. He and Alice Elizabeth Robertson were married Dec. 20, 1963, in Texas County.

At the age of eight, he moved with his family to California. He joined the Air Force when he was 19 and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged Aug. 16, 1954, as a staff sergeant.

He worked alongside his brother, Glen, at McCullah Tool Company in California before returning to Missouri in 1959. He and Glen purchased property and became dairy farmers for many years. He and his wife raised their family near Cabool on the family farm.

He enjoyed working on his farm, fishing and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William J. Kelley.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Alice of the home; a son, Samuel Kelley of Cabool; two daughters, Lesa Morris of Ava and Mary Roderick of Cabool; a brother, Glen Kelley of Huggins; a sister, Flora Westmoreland of Olive Branch, Miss.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services are 2 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Ratterree officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Rock Springs Cemetery.
