Sid Spector

Sidney David Spector, 58, of Plato, died Friday, July 8, 2011, at his home as a result of heart disease.

He was born Nov. 10, 1952, in Parsons, Kan., son of Alvin and Dana Spector.

He was a graduate of Kemper Military School in Booneville. He attended and played football for the University of Missouri in the 1970s.

He was a respiratory therapist and OR technician at Pulaski County Hospital in Waynesville and at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin. He was a member of the first organ transplant team and neurological surgical team at St. John’s.

He was an avid football fan, especially of the Missouri Tigers. He volunteered his services as an assistant coach at Waynesville High School. He was also a volunteer video coordinator for the football and basketball teams at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Susan Mayberry Spector of Plato; three children, David of Carl Junction, Chris of Neosho and Lisa of Plato; four grandsons; and other family members.

Services were noon Tuesday, July 12, at Roby Christian Church with Pastor Rick Smith officiating. Burial was in Westwind Cemetery in Plato under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
