Gynetha Clay Sullivan, 83, of Cabool, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 9, 1927, in Solo, daughter of Abe Ray and Gladys Mae Cunningham McNew. She and Orvill Sullivan Jr were married Jan. 14, 1945.
She walked about a mile to attend Green Hill School and graduated in 1945 from Houston High School.
She was saved at a young age during VBS at Simmons. She attended Oak Dale Church.
She was a homemaker and loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter; a sister, Arlene Fields; and a brother, Dale McNew.
Survivors include her husband, Orvill; three daughters, Judy Mae Ice, Jo Ann Schauer and Patsy Sue Stoops; three sons, Kenneth Lee Sullivan, David Ray Sullivan and Clay Dean Sullivan; 15 grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Ben McNew and Lee McNew; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services were Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Cabool Second Baptist Church with Bro. David Purichia officiating. Burial was in Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home.
