Harold Cecil Lassiter Sr., 61, son of Dewey and Jewell (Joyce) Lassiter, was born Nov. 13, 1949, in DeQueen, Ark. He passed away at his home in Houston, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Anita of the home; one son, Harold Lassiter Jr. of Houston, Mo.; one daughter, Amber Robertson and husband, Matthew, of Houston, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Katie, Kaleb, Kelsie, Jaida, Harold III and Nathan; two sisters, Joyce and Mary; four brothers, Leroy, Dewey, Bill and Mike; and many nieces and nephews.
Harold grew up with six brothers and two sisters. The family moved to Santa Paula, Calif., when he was 14. In California, Harold met and married Anita Byrd.
In 1994, Harold and Anita decided to move back to the Ozarks and settled in Houston, Mo.
Harold worked as a carpenter and woodworker. His greatest enjoyment was creating something out of wood. He was known for his rocking horses and motorcycles. Harold also loved to find a broken piece of furniture and bring it back to life and usefulness.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by his family and friends that knew him.

A benefit for Harold will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011 at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds. An auction will begin at 1 p.m. with food and music to follow. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation was under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
