As a result of an Aug. 6 incident, Nalin H. Neal faces one felony and two misdemeanor charges.
Neal, 37, of 7300 Enos Lane in Bakersfield, Calif., was arrested by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department and is accused of entering a residence on Piney Drive in Bucyrus while the residents were home and stealing an LG touch-screen cellular phone valued at $100. Charges against him, filed Aug. 18 by Texas County prosecuting attorney Mike Anderson, include felony first-degree burglary, stealing less than $500 and second-degree property damage.
Neal’s father Neldon Neal was the focus of a 62-day manhunt in early 2007 after the shooting death of his wife Judy Lewis. He is currently serving sentences in the Missouri Department of Corrections – 15 years for manslaughter and 17 years for possessing a firearm as a felon. He had originally been convicted of second-degree murder, but an appeals court threw out the conviction on a technicality.
The younger Neal is held at the Texas County Jail.
