Nona Louise Capps, 75, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at her home in Dora.
She was born March 31, 1936, in Hartshorn, daughter of Robert David and Malissia Elizabeth Mogan Cole. She married Ray Schweighauser. She later married Larry Capps on March 5, 1988.
She and her husband, Larry, moved in Iowa before moving to Missouri in December 1996 to be near her children and family.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and her husband were foster parents for 19 children in a four-year time span.
She loved interior decorating, home cooking, working in her flower garden, bird watching and fishing. She attended Sweetin Pond Church in Dora. She sang in the church choir and played the tambourine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Nellie Dewitt, Silvia Dewitt and Pearlie Garman; and two brothers, Henry Cole and Jessie Cole.
Survivors include her husband, Larry of the home in Dora; four sons, Michael Schweighauser of West Plains, Don Schweighauser of Raymondville and Chris Ritter and Glen Capps of Davenport Iowa; four daughters, Linda Bradley of Summersville, Elaine Svoboda of Arnold, Teresea Zumwalt of Holden and Leslea Howell of Davenport, Iowa; four sisters, Della Yingling of Licking, Betty Hartman of Springfield, Ohio, Faye Cooley of Summersville and Leona Ramirez of Wichita, Kan.; a brother, Charles Cole of Ozark; 25 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday, Aug. 13, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Poole and the Rev. Richard Martin officiating. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the America Cancer Society, The Gideon’s or Riverway’s Hospice.
