Thelma Frances Odle McCloud, 89, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at her son’s home in Houston.
She was born Sept. 10, 1921, in Solo, daughter of Lee and Mable Odle. She and William “Bill” McCloud were married Sept. 29, 1943, in York, S.C.
She graduated from Houston High School in 1940 and taught two terms of school at Rocky Branch District. During World War II, she worked at the Pratt and Whitney Aircraft factory in Kansas City. She retired from Division of Family Services in 1985.
She was an active member of New Hope Baptist church for most of her life. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and collecting antique dishes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; a sister, Pauline Castor; and three brothers, Lester “Bill” Odle, Harold “Ray” Odle and Doyle Odle.
Survivors include two sons, David McCloud and John McCloud of Houston; eight grandchildren: and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were Monday, Aug. 22, at New Hope Baptist Church with David Barbee officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery.
