Two Texas County residents were seriously injured Sunday, Aug. 14, following an ATV accident about four miles east of Houston on Brushy Creek Road.

Two persons were seriously injured Sunday afternoon after their ATV struck the back of a pickup east of Houston.

Tpr. Dale Pounds of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said a 2007 Honda ATV driven east by Cody L. Shuler, 23, of Summersville, struck the truck operated by Stephanie Kinker, 19, of Raymondville.

Shuler and a passenger on the ATV, Christopher R. Willrett, 26, of Houston, were flown by medical helicopter to Cox South in Springfield after the accident about four miles east of Houston on Brushy Creek Road. Both men were ejected by the ATV after it overturned, Pounds said.

Kinker was not injured.

The ATV sustained extensive damage, Pounds said. No one was using a safety device, he said.
