Capt. Matthew Brown, commander of the Missouri National Guard 294th Engineer Company in Carthage, threads a stitch into the National 9/11 Flag at a Sept.  11 memorial in Joplin. The flag ends a 50-state tour and will return to the site of the World Trade Center where it flew 10 years before.

Today marks the 10th anniversary of a terrorist attack that struck the United States. 

Members of the Houston Fire Department are flying a large flag from a truck ladder on First Street at the fire station. 

Remembrances are planned across the country and at some local churches.
