Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a horse at Cabool.

A county officer reported Sept. 1 that he had investigated a possible shooting of a miniature horse valued at $350 at a Rainbow Drive residence in Cabool.

The couple living there told the officer that the horse was shot in the chest and killed while they were out of town and that they suspected a neighbor was to blame. They stated they would drop charges if the neighbor would pay for the horse.

The officer made contact with the neighbor, who agreed to make restitution.
