Members of the Houston City Council heard a request Monday night to add slides at the Houston Municipal Swimming Pool during the next season.

Jim Root, parks department, and Rhonda Neal, a member of the Houston Park Board, made the request before the six-member council. City Administrator Larry Sutton said the matter will be considered during the upcoming budget process.

In other matters, members:

-Heard from Kathy Richardson of Downtown Houston Inc. regarding plans to use the TCMH pavilion as part of a project on Lone Star Project. Richardson is working with an engineering firm to develop a plan for its placement. The hospital’s building plan calls for its elimination.

-Learned paving of First Street in Houston is hampered by delays in the contractor receiving a milling machine required to lower the pavement before another layer of asphalt is added.

-Heard that a grant project closing for a portion of the Village Trail near the Texas County Justice Center was held Monday.

-Learned several projects – including utility work in the northeast portion of the community – are expected to launch in the fall.
