The former Summersville police chief has filed a lawsuit against the town's mayor.

Testimony is slated to begin Wednesday in a Webster County courtroom in a civil case involving two Texas County officials.

A jury of 12 and an alternate were picked Tuesday afternoon to hear the case, which may extend into next week. Howell County Associate Circuit Judge Don Henry is presiding over the proceeding involving Mildred Williams, a Texas County associate circuit court clerk, who sued Texas County Prosecutor Michael Anderson in July 2009 alleging he abused his office in an attempt to quiet her and another woman.

Jurors were sent home for the night after hearing opening statements from attorneys.
