A community radio station plans an Oktoberfest celebration for Sunday, Oct. 13.

A KZ88 program is now being heard in Cabool and Kabul.

Beginning last weekend, “Juke In the Back” became a part of programming on Voice of America. The show will air in Central Europe and Africa on Saturdays at midnight (Central European Time) and on Sundays at 10 p.m.

Elsewhere, the times vary. Locally the show is heard Sundays at 7 p.m. on Cabool’s community radio KZGM, 88.1 FM.

“I’m so excited that ‘Juke In The Back’ will be heard all over the world, exposing many people in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America to American roots music,” program host and producer Matt the Catt said. “I think the musicianship, the beat and the overall sound of American rhythm and blues music will really resonate with many around the globe.”

Matt launched his show on KZ88 in 2010. It is now heard on more than 20 radio stations in the United States and is on Voice of America.

“If it wasn’t for stations like KZ88, shows like ‘Juke In The Back’ would never have a chance,” Matt said. “The best part is that KZ88 will still have a credit at the end of the show so when someone in a remote African village hears the program, they’ll also hear, ‘Special thanks to KZGM in Cabool, Mo.'”
