Daniel Hancock, former resident of Mountain Grove, will present an organ concert Sept. 10 at Cabool United Methodist Church.
Hancock, an architect by trade, has played the organ for 15 years. At Drury University he studied the organ under Earlene Moulder, who has played the organ internationally.
The Cabool pipe organ has a total of 633 pipes ranging in size from 1 foot to 16 feet in height. Visible from the front are only 85 pipes while all the rest are in the cabinet behind the shutters, which are manually operated by the organist’s feet. There are two sets of shutters with separate controls to direct the sound to the choir and/or the congregation.
The Cabool pipe organ was installed in 1980 by Charles McManis of McManis Organ Co. in Kansas City, Mo. McManis did the voicing of the organ himself, which has been considered a true labor of love.
Refreshments will be served following the concert.
