In spite of cool, rainy weather, 107 walkers and four dogs turned out Sunday for the Texas County Hunger Walk at the Houston Senior Center.

Participants brought with them more than $4,000 in donations to benefit the Texas County Food Pantry and the United Community Help Center in Licking.

Faith Fellowship Church of Houston turned in the largest amount of money, earning them the traveling “Stinky Shoe Award.”

“It’s great when communities pull together like this,” commented one of the organizers. The donations will be used to buy food items that help more than 600 families monthly. Several churches and individuals participated. This is the 19th year for the walk.
