The Houston Area Chamber of Commerce will host a fall festival and Civil War Encampment today at its fairgrounds on North U.S. 63.
Demonstrations are planned by the Missouri Civil War Reenactment Association:
•10 a.m. – Women of the Civil War.
•11 a.m. – Civil War History of Texas County and Missouri.
•1 p.m. – Military Drills.
•3 p.m. – Court Martialing of an Army Deserter.
In connection with the festival, there will a hay maze, vendors and concessions.
A series of pageants also are planned at the community building.
At 5 p.m., the Texas County Fair Board will host an auction and meal to raise funds to improve and add to its pavilion.
